Losing It

Hey Y'all!

I haven't blogged in a little bit. Probably because starting this weight loss journey is kicking my butt a little bit.  I guess that's what it's supposed to do and I have enough padding back there to stand a little kicking. Anyway I've been doing ok for the last couple of days my eating has been pretty good. I did go to Mcdonalds but I made smarter choices instead of what I would usually do. A caesar salad with grilled chicken and I skipped their salad dressing and used my own lower calorie dressing. I did eat fries (thank you Jack) they are my weakness. I can't blame Jack for giving them to me because I didn't have to eat them, but I did. So since I ate the fries I made sure that I kept everything within my calorie range or whatever you want to call it. Actually I came in under budget so I'm pretty happy about that. I did do 30 minutes worth of cardio and I'm proud of myself for not quitting because I really really REALLY wanted to about 15 minutes in. I think I'd like to join a gym but I really don't have the time so I'll just have to figure out the best ways for me to do it at home. All in all I'm happy about everything. All smiles right here. Now if I can only make myself get up at 5 a.m. to exercise tomorrow...That's a whole nother story.

Now that's motivation!

So some of the women I work with and I are going to be going against each other in a little weight loss competition. I definitely don't like to lose so it's going to help me stick to an excercise and diet routine. I can't wait to start!! I know it won't be easy but I'm excited about it.

Youtube Addict

I've been on youtube for a couple of hours just trying to get inspiration, motivation, a little education...lol. Honestly what I'm getting is a little bit of a headache. I'm pretty sure I'm addicted to it but it's time to shut it down for the night. There are so many interesting things/people to watch I lost track of time but now my eyes hurt and I think I need to go to sleep. Yay sleep! YouTube I'll see you in the morning.

Homemade D.C. Woohoo!!

Ok so I had to share this because I just did my first made at home deep conditioning. Anything that is going to save me money is ok with me. I'm kind of iffy about trying things but I decided to go for it. I used Aussie moist conditioner, mayo, honey, and extra virgin olive oil mixed well and voila! I didn't measure but since I don't have that much hair I didn't use a lot of any of it and I tried to use equal parts mayo and conditioner if I had to guess I'd say it was about 5 or 6 squirts (I have the bottle with the pump) of the conditioner and I just eyed the mayo and tried to put about the same of that, a table spoon e.v. olive oil and probably a little bit more than that of the honey. I sectioned my hair and applied it then I put on a conditioning cap and let it sit for about and hour. The reason I'm telling you all that I sectioned my hair is because I usually don't. I'm trying to get into the habit of doing it but since I have short hair I usually just slather it on and try to make sure I don't miss any spots but I'm trying to do this right. Anyway I think it did a great job. When I washed it out my hair felt soft and it didn't have any tangles which was great. If anyone out there has any recipies I should try please let me know!

The Big Chop...Kinda

Hi Everyone!

Since I decided to go natural I've been doing a lot of research about what would be the best way to go about doing it so on december 15 I cut a lot of my hair off but I'm not brave enough to just shave it all away lol so I still have quite a bit that needs to go but I'll do it in stages. I'm happy to be doing this not only for me but for my daughter. She's four and I've already relaxed her hair (I know I know someone slap my hand) but I miss her curls. I definitely made a mistake but I'm going to just keep hers trimmed and let the relaxer grow out. That means I'm going to have to learn how to do our hair...It'll be an adventure. ;-)

On a side note I'm also trying to be healthier and lose weight. Well I shouldn't say trying yet because I've decided to wait until after the holidays to start that. I know myself and if I try to cut out sugar (mmm...sugar) right now I'll think "oh I can have one piece of cake" and end up eating 5 so instead of setting myself up for failure I will wait until it's safer. More on that at a later date.
